Auburn's 2027 recruiting class is already loaded, but several commits could see major jumps in the rankings before signing day. Here's why Myson Johnson-Cook, Isaac McNeil, Nash Johnson III, and others could earn higher recruiting ratings this fall.
The 2027 recruiting class for the Auburn Tigers is impressive.
And there is still room to grow, as it should improve in the eyes of all major industry rankings. As we get closer to the end of summer and the class potentially filling up to its capacity, here are a few players I believe are in for a big jump and could add another star to their recruiting profiles before signing day this December.
Myson Johnson-Cook
According to Rivals, only two running backs in the 2027 class are currently worthy of the five-star rating. Myson Johnson-Cook sits as the fourth best inside the position. That five-star exclusivity for just the top two won't last very long. Myson Johnson-Cook, as he prepares to play his senior season at East St. Louis High School, will certainly add one more to his profile before heading to the Plains in 2027
Isaac McNeil
The same premise applies to McNeil, who is seen as the number-one player in the state of Alabama. Yet, according to Rivals, he is seen as the seventh-best linebacker in the country. I think things should surely change this season as he prepares to suit up for Vigor High School one more year before remaining in state to join D.J. Durkin's defense.
Nash Johnson III
Sometimes the recruiting rankings get it wrong, and I believe that's what happened with McEachern's cornerback, Nash Johnson III. The Atlanta, Georgia, native is currently seen as a three-star recruit and the 60th-best corner in the country. He is clearly rated just too low. When you look at his tape and his offer sheet, evaluators clearly see him higher than what the rankings are currently showing. Don't be surprised if Nass Johnson is not only a four-star recruit when he heads to Auburn but a high four-star recruit at that.
Others worth keeping an eye on for multiple reasons are Quarterback Gary Chatman, Defensive Tackle Nate Kamba and Running Back Moni Williams.
Chatman may not see an extra star in his recruiting, but it won't be because of his performance. Because Chatman shut down his recruitment, there may not be any anticipation to give him more credit inside the rankings. Sometimes, unfortunately, that's the way these recruiting rankings happen. Watching his throwing motion and his mechanics and his upside, Auburn's three-star quarterback could be in for a great senior season this year.
Auburn defensive tackle commit Nate Kamba is one that definitely deserves more credit. Although he is already seen as a four-star recruit in all industry rankings, the Auburn faithful has indirectly pushed him to the wayside due to the hopes of landing Karlos May at the end of this week. Regardless of what happens with his decision, Kamba is a great asset to this recruiting class and could see playing time as early as his freshman season in 2027
And finally, running back Moni Williams, who flipped from West Virginia to Auburn just last month, is a player who has one of the biggest upsides inside Auburn's current recruiting class. Not only is the running back solid in the backfield, but reports have also shown that he can handle the receiving game and possibly find himself in the slot during his collegiate career. When you think of that with Alex Golesh's offensive scheme, it's definitely something worth noting for his final year of high school
