The Clemson Tigers must figure out their quarterback situation with Cade Klubnik departing for the NFL, and while Dabo Swinney has some in-house options, none of them are overly appealing.
As a result, Clemson may hit the transfer portal to find an answer under center, and Derrian Carter of Greenville News has linked the Tigers to an exciting option: former Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby.
"If Clemson wants someone experienced, an option is Cincinnati's transfer Brendan Sorsby," Carter wrote. "He played four seasons (two at Indiana and two with the Bearcats), throwing for 2,800 yards with 27 touchdowns and five interceptions and rushing for 580 yards and nine scores. He has one year of eligibility remaining but would be an instant-impact addition."
Sorsby is the top-ranked player in the transfer portal and was even drawing serious NFL Draft consideration earlier this season.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound signal-caller has tremendous size and possesses terrific arm strength. His accuracy leaves a bit to be desired, as he completed just 61.6 percent of his passes in 2025, but the talent is obviously there.

The 21-year-old has amassed a grand total of 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions while also punching in 22 rushing scores throughout his NCAA tenure.
Clemson had Klubnik at quarterback each of the past three seasons, and while he put forth a fantastic effort with 36 touchdown passes in 2024, he fell off considerably this past year. His decline played a significant role in the Tigers' 7-6 campaign.
After the team's most disappointing season in recent memory, Clemson may have to undergo wholesale changes this offseason, and part of that may include Swinney finally dipping into the transfer portal for the first time.
Quarterback isn't the only area in which the Tigers need assistance, either, especially considering that they will be losing a handful of their best players to the NFL Draft.
We'll see if Clemson makes a push for Sorsby in the coming weeks.
