When Trevor Lawrence departed the Clemson Tigers following the 2020 season, he was viewed as one of the top quarterback prospects in recent memory.
However, things have not exactly gone according to plan since Lawrence was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Lawrence led the league in interceptions during his rookie campaign and has played poorly for most of his five NFL campaigns overall. Outside of a very strong second-half run in 2022, the 26-year-old has been a colossal disappointment.
In fact, the Clemson legend was continuing to regress throughout much of 2025, so much so that he was viewed as a potential trade candidate with the offseason looming.
But this past weekend, Lawrence put forth his best performance of the year, going 16-for-27 with 229 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a 25-3 win over the Tennessee Titans.
The numbers weren't eye-popping, but it marked the first time all season long that Lawrence posted a triple-digit passer rating (111.5), and former NFL head coach Bill Cowher as well as former wide receiver Nate Burleson have seen a change in Lawrence.
Of course, it was just one game, and Lawrence is still just two weeks away from having thrown three picks. But perhaps his performance in a pivotal Week 13 contest will serve as a turning point for the Knoxville, Tn. native.
The Jaguars are now tied with the Indianapolis Colts for first place in the AFC South at 8-4, and Jacksonville has yet to even play the Colts this season. The Jaguars will face them this Sunday in what will serve as a massive test for Lawrence.
Lawrence regularly came through in big games for Clemson. He led the Tigers to a national championship during his freshman campaign in 2018 and participated in another title game the following year. He has plenty of experience in these moments.
And let's remember that Lawrence also led the Jaguars to a thrilling comeback playoff win over the Los Angeles Chargers in his sophomore season.

Should Lawrence play well in a Jacksonville victory, we could see the former Clemson standout finally begin to put it all together.
