Former Clemson star and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is having the best season of his career.
Lawrence became the third player in NFL history to have 275-plus passing yards, three passing touchdowns or more, and a rushing touchdown in consecutive games. He is also looking for his fifth game in a row with 225-plus passing yards, two-plus passing touchdowns, and a 105-plus quarterback rating.
On the season, Lawrence has completed 60 percent of his passes for 3,489 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The 26-year-old has also rushed for 322 yards and seven touchdowns.
He has led the Jaguars to an 11-4 record and first place in the AFC South. Lawrence played at an elite level in Week 16, helping the Jaguars upset the Broncos. He completed 23 of 36 passes for 279 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Lawrence also rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown.
First-year Jaguars head coach Liam Coen has helped the offense improve drastically and has unlocked Lawrence's potential.
It should be no surprise that Lawrence is having success. He had an incredible career at Clemson, but it has taken five seasons to emerge as a star in the NFL.
In his freshman season, Lawrence led the Tigers to win the National Championship, completing 65.2 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards, 30 touchdowns, and four interceptions. That was the Tigers' most recent season where they won the National Championship.
He followed that up in his sophomore campaign by completing 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,665 yards, 36 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. In his junior season at Clemson, Lawrence completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 3,153 yards, 24 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Lawrence came into the NFL draft labeled as a generational quarterback, and he has finally developed to that level this season. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, leading Jacksonville to the playoffs in an impressive season.
While Clemson didn't have a successful football season, missing out on the College Football Playoff, they can be happy for their program legend, Lawrence, as he's having the best NFL season of his career.
