The Clemson Tigers will meet with Kansas transfer safety Lyrik Rawls. Rawls will also meet with Duke and Arizona State.
He has one year of eligibility remaining and is coming off a solid season for the Jayhawks. Rawls had 73 total tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception, and seven pass breakups in the 2025 season. He was second on the Jayhawks in tackles.
Rawls was a three-star recruit out of high school and spent 2021-2024 with Oklahoma State before joining Kansas for the 2025 season.
The 6-foot-1 safety would be a great addition to the Tigers' defense. He is one of the best safeties in the transfer portal and could help Clemson improve.
Head coach Dabo Swinney has been hesitant to use the transfer portal in the past, but he may need to change his tune after the disappointing 2025 season.
The Tigers went 7-6 and lost their final game of the season to Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl. Heading into the season, Clemson was expected to be in the College Football Playoff and one of the contenders to win the National Championship.
However, they fell way short of that and didn't even make it to the ACC Title Game. This could force Swinney to use the transfer portal more aggressively than he has in years past, which could be positive for Clemson.
Another position they may need to target in the transfer portal is quarterback. Cade Klubnik finished up his senior season, and Clemson will need to be in the market for his replacement.
In 12 games in his senior season, Klubnik completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 2,943 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also rushed for 94 yards and four touchdowns.
The Tigers had a great run under Swinney from 2015 to 2019 as they made it to four National Championship games and won two of them.
They haven't been as successful of late, but landing a player like Rawls in the transfer portal could help Clemson as they look to bolster their roster for the 2026 season and get back to the College Football Playoff.
