Former Clemson star and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is having a productive season in his fifth season in the NFL.
With Lawrence's breakout season, he has received a bold take. Mark Long of the Associated Press claims he is finally looking like a generational quarterback.
Lawrence came into the NFL, touted as a generational quarterback after a great career at Clemson. He started off with an incredible freshman season, completing 65.2 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards, 30 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Lawrence led the Tigers to win the National Championship.
Lawrence had productive seasons following, completing 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,665 yards, 36 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in his sophomore campaign, and completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 3,153 yards, 24 touchdowns, and five interceptions in his final year at Clemson.
He was then drafted by the Jaguars with the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Lawrence has shown flashes of his talent throughout his NFL career, but he is having his best season yet.
In the offseason, the Jaguars hired Liam Coen as their head coach, and he has transformed their team. Jacksonville is 10-4, and Coen's offensive system has helped Lawrence have a breakout campaign.
Coen previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had a ton of success.
In the 2025 season, Lawrence has completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 3,210 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He has also rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns.
In the Jaguars' Week 15 win over the New York Jets, Lawrence completed 20 of 32 passes for 330 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. He added 51 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
The six-touchdown performance by the Clemson alum should give him a ton of confidence heading into the Jaguars matchup against the 12-2 Denver Broncos.
This matchup will be pivotal, as the Jaguars are 10-4 and hold a slim lead over the 9-5 Houston Texans in the division. Lawrence has played well this season and will look to make Tigers fans proud and continue his breakout season in the NFL.
