Three X-Factors for Clemson to get a win this week.
The Clemson Tigers will be entering this current week with the mindset of turning the season around after a tough loss in their last game against Virginia Tech.
Clemson comes into the week with a record of 4-3 on the year, with the team showing major inconsistency all season. The Tigers have gone 2-2 in ACC play this year, and 2026 hasn't gone to plan for this program.
This team will be taking on the Florida State Seminoles this week on the road, giving them a decent challenge to overcome. Like Clemson, Florida State has underperformed this season, with them going 3-4 so far, including 1-3 in ACC games.
Head coach Dabo Swinney has taken a lot of criticism this season for the roster construction, and the calls for him to be fired continue to grow. But for now, the Tigers have held off on making a move on the longtime head coach.
Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Tigers to bounce back this week against Florida State.
1. Can the Offense Finally Get Going?
The offense for the Tigers has been a major problem all year long, and it's held this team back from its overall ceiling. Part of the issue has been the play from freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds, who has struggled heavily to do much of anything out on the field.
Overall, Reynolds has thrown for 1,096 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions this year. Against the Seminoles, Reynolds is going to need to play much better, pushing the ball down the field throughout the game.
2. Pressure the Florida State Offense
Florida State comes in ranked as the No. 49 team in the country offensively, putting up an average of 414.3 yards per game. For the Tigers, they will need to slow down this offense, using its strong secondary in the contest.
Clemson has been able to stay in games due to the secondary, and the unit will be counted on again this week. The Tigers have only allowed 185.7 yards per game through the air this year.
3. Score in the Red Zone
With the struggles from the offense this season, Clemson will be playing a good red zone defense in the Seminoles. Florida State comes into the game ranked No. 35 in the country in red zone defense, getting stops 78.3 percent of the time this year.
For the Tigers, if they get into the red zone in this game, the offense is going to have to take advantage of the situation. This could end up making or breaking the outcome for Clemson this week.
