All signs point toward Christopher Vizzina leading Clemson's offense in 2026.
Christopher Vizzina has been projected to be Clemson's starting QB for the 2026 season.
David Kenyon of Bleacher Report has Clemson starting Vizzina ahead of true freshman Tait Reynolds.
"There has been movement in the Clemson QB competition, although it's not exactly what we anticipated as the spring began," Kenyon wrote. "Christopher Vizzina headed into the offseason as the front-runner, given his recruiting pedigree and two years in the second-string role. Vizzina threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns in a spot start last season. He will likely be the Tigers' QB1—but this battle has a new feel.
"Following the spring game, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told reporters Vizzina and true freshman Tait Reynolds separated themselves. That leaves Chris Denson, the once-presumed backup, as a depth option. Adding to the intrigue, Swinney did not rule out a position change for the athletic QB. How that storyline plays out will be worth monitoring, but Vizzina is still trending toward steering Clemson's offense in 2026."
Vizzina has been at Clemson since 2023. He has 596 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and one interception in 14 games.
On Josh Pate's College Football Show, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney spoke about Vizzina and how the coaching staff is confident in the 21-year-old.
"We believe in Vizzina. I think he's got a chance to be a really good player," Swinney told Pate. "He's only started one game, and he did his part to win that game... I like how he's responded, and I like how he's competed. But he's the most experienced guy we've got."
Clemson will take on LSU to begin the 2026 NCAAF season. It's a highly anticipated game to start the Lane Kiffin era for LSU.
The Clemson-LSU game will start at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. ESPN's "College GameDay" has chosen Baton Rouge as its Week 1 destination. Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit are expected to be on site for the pregame show.
Clemson struggled in 2025, going just 7-6. Swinney's group lost the Pinstripe Bowl to Penn State, 22-10.
