Steve Spurrier spoke out with a warning for Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney.

Clemson Tigers head football coach Dabo Swinney is one of the best head coaches in college football. Unfortunately, being a great head coach is no longer the only job for a person in that position anymore.

Swinney has struggled to adapt to all of the transfer portal and NIL changes that have shaken up the college football landscape. That has left Clemson behind the times and struggling to remain a championship contender.

Due to the struggles the program has had over the last few years, there has been speculation about Swinney's future with the Tigers. Should Clemson struggle again in 2026, there is a very real chance that the program might have to consider a coaching change.

Keeping that in mind, Swinney has received a new warning and message. This time, the message came from coaching legend Steve Spurrier.

Before being inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame, Spurrier spoke out honestly to Swinney.

"I thought by now somebody would've told Dabo, 'Dabo, there ain't no rules anymore,'" Spurrier said.

Those comments come after the viral situation that saw Swinney speak out with tampering allegations against Ole Miss. That situation saw linebacker transfer Luke Ferrelli from California being contacted continually by Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding even after Ferrelli had signed with Clemson and also enrolled in spring classes.

Unfortunately for Swinney and the Tigers, the rules simply aren't enforced. As Spurrier stated, there are no rules at this point in time until the NCAA begins enforcing them.

Since taking over as Clemson's head coach back in 2008, he has led the team to a 187-53 overall record. He has also won two national championships with the Tigers.

If the day does come soon that Clemson decides to move on from Swinney, it will be a very sad day. He has been the face of the football program for years.

However, it's on Swinney to figure out how to adapt to the new landscape of college football. At the end of the day, it's all about wins, and the Tigers have not been able to get enough of them in recent years.
