Clemson Tigers head football coach Dabo Swinney's future has received a strong take from a former Georgia star.
The future of Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney has become a popular talking point ahead of the upcoming 2026 college football season.
After a brutal 2025 season that saw the Tigers finish at 7-4, Swinney immediately became a hot seat candidate to many. They began the season as a top-tier National Championship contender, but that clearly wasn't the reality of their season.
Swinney has struggled to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the NCAA. He has not embraced the transfer portal and NIL approach like many other head coaches around the nation.
Despite those struggles, Swinney remains one of the best head coaches in college football.
Since taking over as the head coach at Clemson back in the 2008 season, Swinney has led the program to an impressive 187-53 record. He has also won two National Championships with the Tigers.
If the day does come that Clemson has to move on from Swinney, it would be an incredibly difficult decision.
Keeping that in mind, former Georgia Bulldogs star David Pollack recently had some strong words to say about Swinney. He does not believe that the Tigers' head coach is done and expects him to continue finding success.
“I do think Dabo has more chapters left,” Pollack said. “I think he is primed for that, and I think he really wants to prove people wrong. I think he has gone about it his way, which I think is cool, and now just continues to make tweaks and changes and adapted to the world a little bit. But I do not think Dabo is done.”
While Pollack expects more success from Swinney, he did acknowledge that the head coach will need to continue making changes and adapting his philosophy.
“Dabo is a guy who is very clear in who he is, and he is not going to compromise that and he is not going to change that,” Pollack said. “With that comes what? Okay, if I do not go into the portal consistently and people leave consistently, that is a hard number.’ We are just doing math. If I lose ten or twelve (players) and I am only bringing in guys every year and I am not replacing the guys I am losing, obviously, it is not going to work. I do think Dabo has a boulder size chip on his shoulder. I think Dabo Works best with that chip on his shoulder.”
Swinney and company will be given an immediate chance to show what they are made of to begin the 2026 season. They will face off against Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers on September 5.
Hopefully, the 2026 season ends up being a success for Clemson and Swinney. If the team suffers the same kind of disappointment as it did last year, some tough decisions could be needed.
