Former Clemson Tigers star quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been handed an intriguing new NFL ranking.

While it has been quite some time since Trevor Lawrence was starring for the Clemson Tigers, fans remember that era well.

Lawrence played for Clemson from the 2018 season through 2020. In his three years with the program, he led the team to a lot of success. He was also expected to become an instant NFL superstar and was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

In his three seasons with the Tigers, Lawrence completed 66.6 percent of his pass attempts for 10,098 yards, 90 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, while also running for 943 yards and 18 scores.

Since becoming the franchise quarterback for the Jaguars, Lawrence has had an up-and-down NFL career. He has shown flashes of superstar potential, but overall has had a disappointing first five years.

With Jacksonville, Lawrence has played in 77 games. He has thrown for 17,822 yards, 98 touchdowns, and 58 interceptions, while completing 62.8 percent of his passes.

Last year, the 26-year-old quarterback had arguably his best season. He completed 60.9 percent of his attempts for 4,007 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Lawrence also ran for 359 yards and nine more touchdowns.

Keeping all of that in mind, CBS Sports has ranked each NFL quarterback by tiers in a new feature. When it came to Lawrence, they placed him in the "borderline star" category.

"Lawrence has endured quite a bit of turbulence in Jacksonville, including playing for three different head coaches," they wrote. "While he'll no longer have Travis Etienne Jr. by his side, Lawrence will have some new pass catchers and an improved offensive line at his disposal."

Entering the 2026 season, Lawrence is facing a lot of pressure. The Jaguars need him to prove that he can be a star and lead them back to playoff contention. They also need him to start playing up to the massive five-year, $275 million contract they gave him.

Only time will tell if he's able to take a leap forward in 2026. All of the pieces are in place for what should be a very successful year for the Jacksonville offense.

If Lawrence can live up to the hype that surrounded him coming out of Clemson, the Jaguars could very well be a sleeper contender in the AFC.
