The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the surprises of the NFL season, led by two former Clemson standouts on offense.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 4,007 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in the regular season, leading the Jaguars to a 13-4 record and an AFC South title.
Running back Travis Etienne Jr. led Jacksonville in rushing, with 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Jaguars nearly upset the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round, but an interception by Lawrence on his final drive sent Jacksonville home with a 27-24 loss.
That game could be the last with Lawrence and Etienne as teammates.
Etienne is set to hit free agency in the offseason.
Per Michael DiRocco of ESPN, the Jaguars have a big decision to make on Etienne this offseason. They could use the franchise tag on the running back or give up on a key contributor for the offense.
"The franchise tag is estimated to be $14.1 million and the Rams' Kyren Williams signed a contract in August that pays him $11 million annually, so it might take more than $10 million annually to get Etienne to return," DiRocco wrote.
"The Jaguars must decide if that's too much for a player who has had three 1,000-yard seasons in the past four years, and someone head coach Liam Coen praised for his fit and versatility in his offense."
Etienne might be willing to make some concessions to stay with the Jaguars. During the regular season, he praised the new staff under head coach Liam Coen for using him to the best of his abilities.
"I feel like I just get opportunities now," Etienne said. "I feel like last year I really didn't get much opportunities to be my best self...
"I get better as the game goes and Coach is doing a great job, trusting in me, giving me ball, me protecting the rock, and I'm just doing the most with the carries I get."
Jacksonville selected Etienne with the No. 25 pick in the 2021 draft (24 spots after Lawrence went No. 1). He's rushed for 3,798 yards and 25 touchdowns during his four seasons with the Jaguars.
