Clemson Offers 3-Star DB With Ties to Jamarin Simmons

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers are continuing to be aggressive in recruiting as they have made an offer to three-star defensive back Kahmaree Crumity.

Crumity is the 34th-ranked cornerback prospect in his class and has notable offers from programs such as Indiana, Florida, Georgia, and Oregon.

Crumity does have a connection to the Tigers as his former teammate, Jamarin Simmons, committed to the program. Simmons is a five-star prospect for Clemson's 2027 class.

He has had a stellar career in high school, including eight receptions for 109 yards and three touchdowns in 2023; 49 receptions for 996 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024; and 59 receptions for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2025.

It's pivotal for Clemson to keep landing recruits like Simmons, and an offer to Crumity shows they're looking to add more talent.

The Tigers struggled in the 2025 season, finishing with a 7-6 record. They were unable to make it to the ACC Title Game and fell far short of their expectations of reaching the College Football Playoff.

To bounce back, Swinney was more active in the transfer portal than usual, landing talented players like running back Chris Johnson Jr. and edge rusher London Merritt.

Johnson Jr. is coming off a solid season with limited touches, as he rushed for 479 yards and four touchdowns on 67 carries while hauling in 17 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown.

He will be an important piece for the Tigers' backfield in the 2026 season. Merritt will have an impact on Clemson's defense, as he finished with 25 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a sack.

With the transfer portal additions and the impressive 2027 recruiting class, Swinney is making progress in turning the program around. He has made many changes, including bringing Chad Morris as the offensive coordinator and hiring Rich Bisaccia as the special teams coordinator.

While Swinney and the Tigers had a disappointing season in 2025, the future looks bright, and landing recruits like Crumity will only strengthen their core in the long term.
