This Clemson Tigers star has dropped some bold comments on the team's quarterback situation.

Christopher Vizzina is clearly the frontrunner to win the Clemson Tigers' starting quarterback job, and at this point, if he didn't come out on top, it would be a major upset.

But it's who has been second in the quarterback race this spring that has been surprising: true freshman Tait Reynolds.

Chris Denson was widely viewed as the chief competition for Vizzina going into spring practice, but head coach Dabo Swinney has made it clear that Reynolds is the No. 2 signal-caller, and it isn't even close.

The first-year player has also made quite an impression on his teammates, with star linebacker Sammy Brown raving about the three-star commit.

“He’s really, really good,” Brown said, via The Clemson Insider. “He looks like a linebacker playing quarterback, but he’s really good. He can put some zip on the ball. I’m excited to see him continue to develop.”

Reynolds stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 215 pounds, so it's not like he's oversized. But he's chiseled and clearly has a strong frame. He'll probably add some weight to it as he matures, as he is still just 18 years old.

The Queen Creek, Az. native was the 31st-ranked quarterback in the class of 2026 and the sixth-ranked player in the state of Arizona.

Reynolds had offers from a host of schools, including Arizona State, Florida State, Miami, Oregon and Tennessee, but he ultimately chose Clemson.

Considering that he could have the opportunity to start as soon as his debut campaign, it seems like he made the right decision.

Vizzina is the obvious No. 1 at the moment, but that isn't set in stone. He is very unproven as a starter, so it's within reason that Reynolds could supplant him under center at some point next season.

And if not next year, then it seems pretty evident that Reynolds will be next in line to follow Vizzina, who is entering his redshirt junior campaign.

As for Brown? The junior defender racked up 106 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, an interception and five passes defended in 2025, putting himself on the map as one of the top linebackers in the country.

With another strong campaign like that, Brown could find himself in the conversation to be a first-round NFL Draft pick next spring.
