Clemson Tigers star defensive tackle Peter Woods has been compared to a current NFL star.

The Clemson Tigers have quite a few players headed off to the 2026 NFL Draft. One of the most notable of those players is defensive lineman Peter Woods.

Woods, who has been the heart and soul of the Clemson defense over the last couple of years, is widely expected to be a first-round pick. He has been projected in mock drafts to be anywhere from a top-10 pick to being taken in the late 20's.

Regardless of where he ends up, Woods will offer an NFL team the ability to play a role right off the bat.

Standing in at 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds, Woods is an intimidating physical presence. He has shown the ability, even at his size, to both stuff then run and put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

During the 2025 season with the Tigers, Woods racked up 30 tackles, two sacks, and a defended pass. In his three years at Clemson, he totaled 82 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass.

Ahead of the NFL Draft next month, Woods has received an intriguing comparison to a current NFL star. That star is none other than Tennessee Titans star defender Jeffery Simmons.

Bleacher Report was the source who made the comparison between Woods and Simmons.

Should Woods find a way to carve out the kind of career that Simmons has, he will have moved his way into professional star status. Simmons is one of the best defensive tackles in football. Woods truly does have that kind of potential.

It will be interesting to see where the Tigers' standout will begin his NFL career. Quite a few teams have been named as potential fits for Woods. Thankfully, he won't have to wait much longer to find out the answer to that question.

Wherever Woods ends up, Clemson fans are sure to continue rooting him on. Dabo Swinney and the Tigers' defense are going to miss him badly during the 2026 season, but Woods is poised to begin what should be a long and successful career in the NFL.
