Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Peter Woods is predicted to land with a top AFC defense in a recent mock draft.

Clemson Tigers star Peter Woods is heading to the NFL Draft after a successful collegiate career.

Woods established himself as one of the top defensive tackles in college football and will likely be a first or second-round pick in the upcoming draft.

In his freshman season, he finished with 26 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Woods had his breakout campaign in his sophomore year, as he had 28 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble.

In the 2025 season, his numbers regressed, but he was still impactful, finishing with 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a pass deflection.

The 21-year-old was projected to be a top-five or top-ten pick prior to the season, but his stock has fallen to a mid-to-late first-round or early second-round pick.

In Bucky Brooks' most recent mock draft, Woods lands with the Houston Texans with the 28th overall pick.

This could be a great fit for Woods, as he would join one of the best defenses in the NFL. Off the edge, the Texans have Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, who have proven to be two of the best pass rushers in the league.

Houston also has a strong secondary, and adding Woods to their elite defensive line would make their defense even more suffocating for opposing offenses.

Playing under a great defensive coach, DeMeco Ryans, and alongside a talented pass rush and secondary could help Woods unlock his full potential at the NFL level.

With Woods and other talent like Avieon Terrell, TJ Parker, Blake Miller, and Cade Klubnik off to the draft, Dabo Swinney and the Tigers have an uphill battle to improve from their disappointing 7-6 season.

Clemson needs to get a ton of production out of the rest of their roster as they look to get to the College Football Playoff and the ACC Title Game after missing out in 2025.

Woods has the potential to be an elite defensive tackle at the next level, and a team like the Texans could get the most out of him.
