The Clemson Tigers have received brutal news on one of their defensive tackles.

The Clemson Tigers had some very disappointing news come in as defensive tackle Hevin Brown-Shuler will likely miss the 2026 season as he undergoes treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma.

Brown-Shuler received the official diagnosis in May after doctors found a mass on his chest back in April.

"While this news was difficult to receive, I am grateful that the prognosis is very good," Brown-Shuler said. "I am approaching this challenge with optimism and determination."

Brown-Shuler went on to show appreciation for the great medical care he has received thus far.

"The Clemson Family and the entire college football world are with Hevin," head coach Dabo Swinney said. "As a program, we'll wrap our arms around him and his family as he steps away from football temporarily to focus on his health. Hevin, his family and the amazing medical teams that are caring for him will be in our prayers."

Brown-Shuler was recruited by many top programs as a four-star prospect before deciding on Clemson.

In the 2024 season, he finished with four total tackles in four games, while in 2025, he had two total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss across three games. Brown-Shuler participated in spring practice and the spring game before the diagnosis.

He has a ton of talent, and the Tigers will miss his absence on their defense, as he likely would've taken on a bigger role in 2026. While Brown-Shuler recovers, he knows that he has the support of Swinney, his teammates, and Clemson as a whole.

"I know there is a long journey ahead, but I am encouraged by the outlook and surrounded by tremendous support from family, friends, teammates and my communities," Brown-Shuler said. "I appreciate everyone's prayers, encouragement and respect for privacy as I focus on treatment and recovery."

Brown-Shuler is expected to return to Clemson and play in the 2027 season following his recovery.
