Clemson Tigers Receive Major Update on 4-Star Safety

The Clemson Tigers will have to wait for a decision from four-star safety Seth Williams, as he has delayed his commitment date.

Williams is down to Clemson and Georgia and was planning to announce his commitment on July 3rd, but will now be taking more time to decide.

"After much prayer and consideration, I've decided to push my commitment date back," Williams said in a social media post. "I'm incredibly thankful to God for blessing me with the opportunity to be recruited by two amazing programs, and I'm so grateful for my family, whose love and support have guided me every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey I'm excited for what's ahead and trust God's timing."

While his decision is delayed, Clemson remains a finalist to land Williams, and he would be another talented addition to their 2027 class.

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers have done a phenomenal job recruiting so far in 2027. They currently hold the 11th-ranked class for 2027 according to 247 Sports.

Five-star wide receiver Jamarin Simmons headlines Clemson's class. Simmons has had a great career in high school, including 49 receptions for 996 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024 and 59 receptions for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2025.

He could help the Tigers' offense explode, which brings hope for the program's future.

Clemson struggled mightily in the 2025 season, finishing 7-6 and failing to make the College Football Playoff.

The failure of a season led Swinney to make significant changes, bringing Chad Morris in as the offensive coordinator and Rich Bisaccia as the special teams coordinator. The Tigers also added more talent via the transfer portal, with 11 additions.

Clemson will hope those changes are enough to have a bounce-back year in the 2026 season. However, if the Tigers struggle, they can feel confident that the future is bright as they've put together a talented 2027 class that could get stronger if Williams commits to the program.
