Not many players have seen their stock take as big of a hit as this Clemson Tigers star.

Heading into the 2025 college football season, Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Peter Woods was viewed as one of the top prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft.

But now, with the draft just two weeks away, things have certainly changed.

Woods went from being considered a potential top-five selection to now potentially slipping into the second round thanks to a disappointing final year at Clemson, and the closer we get to the draft, the more his stock seems to slide.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic recently released his top 100 prospects with the draft on the horizon, and Woods came in at No. 35.

"An explosive tackle who must improve his consistency at the next level," Brugler wrote.

And that's the thing with Woods: he is incredibly talented and could still very well end up being one of the best players from this draft class. But we only saw that ability in spurts with the Tigers rather than all the time.

Woods arrived at Clemson in 2023 and immediately received significant playing time, logging 26 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss during his freshman campaign. Then, the following year, Woods broke out, racking up 28 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and three sacks, putting himself on the map as a premier NFL talent.

More was expected from the 21-year-old heading into his junior season, but instead, Woods actually regressed, finishing with 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

To be fair, the Tigers disappointed as a whole in 2025, so perhaps the malaise was a bit contagious. But it still doesn't excuse Woods' spotty effort at times.

Now, because Woods may not have been giving 100 percent on every play, he may very well fall to Day 2 later this month.

Of course, if Woods does slip that far, he could also become one of the draft's biggest steals.

Woods' talent is undeniable. While he doesn't have elite size for the defensive tackle position, his athleticism is tremendous, an when he is engaged, his burst and explosiveness are outstanding.

But can Woods do that consistently enough on the NFL level?

That concern is why the Alabaster, Al. native is giving teams pause.
