Clemson Tigers star cornerback Avieon Terrell is predicted to go to an AFC contender in a recent mock draft.

Clemson Tigers star Avieon Terrell has solidified himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Terrell is likely to go in the mid-to-late first round or early in the second round of the draft.

In CBS Sports' latest mock draft, Terrell lands with the Kansas City Chiefs with the 29th overall pick.

The Chiefs hold the ninth overall pick after a difficult season in which they missed the postseason and saw superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes go down with a torn ACL at the end of the season.

Kansas City then traded away star cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for the 29th overall pick.

That gives the Chiefs another chance to add a young player, but it has opened up a big need at cornerback. Kansas City also lost Jaylen Watson in free agency to the Rams.

Terrell would immediately come in and be an impact player for the Chiefs' defense. He has the ability to play in the slot and on the outside.

Cornerback is one of their biggest needs, and they are in a win-now window with Mahomes as their quarterback. Future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce is returning for another season in what may be his final year.

Kansas City needs to maximize the Super Bowl window, and adding a player like Terrell would drastically help the defense.

Terrell had a solid three years at Clemson. In his freshman season, he finished with 19 total tackles, four pass deflections, and an interception.

He improved in his sophomore campaign in 2024, as he had 58 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, a sack, 12 pass deflections, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

In the 2025 season, he had 48 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, nine pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Terrell's ability to blitz out of the nickel and play well in coverage would fit well in Steve Spagnuolo's defense.

The Tigers will miss Terrell's presence on their defense, and he has a chance to be an impactful player in his rookie campaign.
