Clemson Tigers star defensive tackle Peter Woods has been drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 29th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Woods established himself as one of the top defensive tackles in the draft after a great career with the Tigers.
In his freshman campaign in 2023, Woods finished with 26 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. He had a breakout season in 2024, as he had 28 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble.
He wasn't as disruptive in 2025, but finished with 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.
Woods is a quality pass rusher and run stuffer with a ton of potential. Heading into the 2025 season, he was a potential top-five selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, his regression in numbers dropped him all the way to the Chiefs at the 29th overall pick.

Woods will get to play alongside one of the best pass-rushing defensive tackles in the league, Chris Jones. Jones is still an elite player, but is 31 years old.
This selection pairs Woods with Jones while also allowing him to be the long-term defensive tackle for the franchise.
Having the chance to learn under Jones and being in a Steve Spagnuolo defense gives Woods the chance to reach his full potential.
The Chiefs will expect instant contributions from both of their first-round picks, Woods and cornerback Mansoor Delane.
Their defense needed revamping as they look to get back into Super Bowl contention after missing out on the playoffs in 2025. They will also be awaiting a return from superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes as he recovers from a torn ACL and LCL.
The Tigers will miss Woods' presence on their defense, but will wish him the best as he continues his football career with the Chiefs.
