Clemson Tigers Star Peter Woods Receives Mind-Bending Prediction cover image

Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Peter Woods has received a brutal prediction.

At the start of the 2025 college football season, Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Peter Woods was viewed as one of the top prospects heading into the 2026 NFL Draft.

Just about everyone agreed that Woods was the best interior defensive lineman prospect in the country, and some mock drafts had him tabbed as a top-three pick.

However, Woods had a disappointing campaign, finishing with just 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a couple of sacks on the year.

That was a significant step back from 2024, and Woods' draft stock took a hit because of it. That being said, up until the last couple of weeks, most still felt that the 20-year-old would be an early or mid first-round pick.

But Woods' standing has suddenly plummeted, so much so that Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com ranked him just 34th on his list of top 50 prospects. He was also third among defensive tackles in Jeremiah's rankings.

It gets worse, though.

ESPN's Matt Miller just ran a mock draft, and he predicted Woods to fall all the way to the 41st overall selection, where he would land with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The most damning part of all? Miller called it a "weak defensive tackle class" in his Woods synopsis.

So the defensive tackle class is weak, and yet Miller still thinks Woods will drop down to the middle of the second round? That's awful news for Woods.

Of course, it's just a mock draft. For all we know, there might be a team willing to take Woods within the top 10. But Woods' stock is dropping for a reason.

Clearly, there is buzz in inner circles that the Clemson product has lost some of his luster, and it could result in Woods actually being a Day 2 pick.

Personally, I feel that Woods would be an absolute steal there. Heck, he is so talented that grabbing him anywhere outside the top 15 would comprise an incredible value pick. But it's becoming abundantly clear that public opinion on Woods has changed.

An impressive Scouting Combine later this month would change all of that for the Alabaster, Al. native, but right now, Woods is falling behind, especially with rival defensive tackles like Caleb Banks, Lee Hunter and Kayden McDonald rocketing up draft boards.
