Clemson's Quarterback Room Receives Major Ranking for 2026 Season

The Clemson Tigers have a pivotal season ahead in 2026 to turn the football program around. A lot will weigh on the Tigers' quarterback room to have a bounce-back year.

Ahead of the 2026 season, ESPN ranked all of the college football teams' quarterback rooms, and Clemson fell in Tier 12: What's behind Door No. 2?

"Clemson fans are already bored with Vizzina, and they've seen this story unfold before -- in 2014 (Deshaun Watson), 2018 (Trevor Lawrence) and 2022 (Cade Klubnik) -- when Dabo Swinney went with the veteran to start, only to make a change somewhere along the way," David Hale wrote.

While this is some strong criticism, it is valid to question the Tigers' quarterback room. They lost Klubnik to the NFL Draft after he had a stellar career at Clemson, completing 64 percent of his passes for 10,123 yards, 73 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions while rushing for 878 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Redshirt junior Christopher Vizzina is likely to take over as the starting quarterback for the Tigers. Vizzina doesn't have much experience, as he's completed 64 of 105 passes (61 percent) for 596 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception across 2024 and 2025.

He has also rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 38 carries. A lot will ride on Vizzina's production to be successful in the 2026 season.

The other option for Clemson to consider starting in 2026 is true freshman Tait Reynolds. Reynolds was a four-star recruit and is a talented dual-threat quarterback.

In the 2024 season, Reynolds was named the Arizona Cardinals Offensive Player of the Year, completing 61.9 percent of his passes for 2,238 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 1,426 yards and 19 touchdowns.

If Vizzina gets off to a slow start, Reynolds could take over as the starter as they look to make a push to the College Football Playoff.

Swinney fired offensive coordinator Garrett Riley and brought back Chad Morris as the offensive coordinator, a role he held from 2011 to 2014.

Morris will look to get the most out of the quarterback room, but there are a lot of question marks heading into 2026.
