Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have made an offer to a four-star cornerback.
The Clemson Tigers have made an offer to four-star cornerback Izayah Vickers for their 2028 class.
Vickers is one of the top cornerbacks in the 2028 class and has offers from other schools like Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, and more.
In the 2024 season, Vickers finished with 18 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a PBU. In 2025, Vickers stepped up his play, as he had 65 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven PBUs, and three fumble recoveries.
He would be a great addition to the Tigers' future secondary. Dabo Swinney has done a great job of recruiting one of the top 2027 classes, which is pivotal after their disappointing 2025 season.
Clemson went 7-6 despite expectations of being a contender to make the College Football Playoff.
That has led Swinney to make many changes, including bringing in Chad Morris for his second stint as the offensive coordinator and Rich Bisaccia as the special teams coordinator.
Swinney also used the transfer portal to improve the roster, adding running back Chris Johnson Jr., London Merritt, and others. Johnson Jr. proved to be an efficient rusher for SMU in 2025, as he ran for 479 yards and four touchdowns on 67 carries (7.1 yards per carry). He also had 17 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown.
Merritt was impressive in his freshman season at Colorado, as he finished with 25 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a sack.
With the changes that the Tigers have made, they should be a more attractive landing spot for recruits like Vickers.
Clemson has shown the ability to develop cornerbacks, as seen with Avieon Terrell. In the 2023 season, he finished with 19 total tackles, an interception, and four pass deflections.
In 2024, Terrell had a great season, recording 58 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 12 pass deflections.
Terrell was solid again in 2025, finishing with 48 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, nine pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
Swinney and the Tigers will look to have a bounce-back season in 2026, which will help them land future recruits like Vickers.
