Dabo Swinney, Clemson Make Offer on 4-Star Defensive Back

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have been aggressive with recruiting and have now made an offer to four-star defensive back Domonic Williams Jr.

Williams Jr. is in the 2028 class and has 15 other offers, including from Auburn, Florida, and Kentucky.

The Tigers have made a ton of moves of late, landing several top recruits for their 2027 class. This was pivotal for Swinney to get done after Clemson struggled mightily in the 2025 season.

They finished with a 7-6 record, missing out on the ACC Title and failing to make it to the College Football Playoff. The Tigers had entered the season among the favorites to win the National Championship, but couldn't put it all together.

While Swinney and Clemson have added to their future classes, there are some question marks surrounding the 2026 season.

The Tigers lost a ton of talent in the 2026 NFL Draft, as nine players were selected. That leaves Clemson to rely on more inexperienced players to step up for them to have success.

The quarterback position is a major concern, as Cade Klubnik has moved on to the New York Jets, and Christopher Vizzina is taking over for the Tigers.

Klubnik had great success during his four years at Clemson, completing 64 percent of his passes for 10,123 yards, 73 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions. He also rushed for 878 yards and 17 touchdowns on 369 carries.

Vizzina takes over with not a ton of experience, as he's completed 64 of 105 passes (61 percent) for 596 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception while rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown on 38 carries.

For the Tigers to have a bounce-back season in 2026, it will take a strong performance from Vizzina. Clemson will also be leaning on their new coaches, as Chad Morris was brought in for his second stint as the offensive coordinator, and Rich Bisaccia was hired as the special teams coordinator.

While Swinney and the Tigers would love to turn things around in 2026, they have a lot of hope with their stellar recruiting for the 2027 class and will look to land players like Williams Jr. for 2028.
