This rising quarterback has opened up on playing for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers.
A rather interesting development occurred during Clemson Tigers spring practice earlier this week, as freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds was seen getting second-team reps.
Considering that the quarterback competition was widely viewed as a two-horse race between Christopher Vizzina (who took the first-team reps) and Chris Denson, the fact that Reynolds made such a move was very notable.
It's also pretty clear that Dabo Swinney really likes what he has seen from Reynolds, and Reynolds is loving his time at Clemson.
But what drew Reynolds to the Tigers? He explained it during a recent appearance on the 2 Right Turns podcast.
“They started recruiting me. I didn’t really think anything of it, but then they started flying all the way out to Arizona, like consistently,” Reynolds said. “They were talking about how much they really wanted me and everything, and the possibilities that I had. Then I just kind of prayed about it, and I’m just trying to see what the Lord has in store for me.”
The Queen Creek, Az. native is ranked as a three-star prospect by 247 Sports but was actually tabbed as a four-star recruit by other publications, such as ESPN.

Reynolds said he appreciated Swinney's compliments.
“I just work on my craft every single day," Reynolds said. "Everything that I can, every attribute that I can get better, I try to. Everything’s a part of my game – I run, I do all the sorts of things. So, I just try to improve things all the time, and I’m just thankful what I’ve been blessed with.”
The 6-foot-2, 2`15-pound signal-caller saw his senior campaign sabotaged due to a hamstring injury, but during his junior season at Queen Creek in 2024, he threw for 2,238 yards, 22 touchdowns and five interceptions. On top of that, he rushed for 1,426 yards and 19 scores.
Reynolds had initially committed to play baseball for Arizona State, but decommitted once Clemson came calling for him to play quarterback.
“I turned down a lot to be here, at this time. But I wouldn’t change it,” Reynolds said. “I’m excited that I’m here. I’m grateful that I’m here, and I’m just excited to see what’s in store.”
We'll see if Reynolds can ultimately become the Tigers' quarterback of the future.
