This top Clemson Tigers recruit has revealed some intel on his upcoming visit.

The Clemson Tigers have never really been known for their running backs. In fact, Travis Etienne Jr. is really the only Clemson halfback who has ever made any noise on the NFL level in recent years.

Maybe Adam Randall, who recently decided to enter the 2026 NFL Draft, will change that.

But for the most part, the Tigers have not been a major running back school, although there is still time for them to start producing more at the position.

It starts with strong recruiting, and when it comes to the class of 2027, Clemson has currently only offered one halfback: David Segarra, who hails from South Carolina.

The Tigers could be making inroads with another rusher, though, as four-star running back Andrew Beard — who has visited Clemson multiple times — clearly seems to like the program.

Jason Priester of The Clemson Insider has revealed some intel on Beard's status, noting that the playmaker plans to return to campus in a couple of months.

"Beard told The Clemson Insider he was eyeing the Elite Retreat on March 7 as a possible return date," Priester wrote. "He plans to visit Indiana on January 24. The Hoosiers have become a prominent factor in his recruitment, with Tennessee and Georgia also heavily involved. Beard’s uncle is Garrison Hearst, who was a star running back for the Dawgs during the 1990s."

Beard is a Georgia native and a four-star prospect. He is the fifth-ranked running back and the 85th-ranked player nationally in his class, via 247 Sports' composite rankings.

The 5-foot-10 weapon racked up 1,260 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground as a junior at Prince Avenue Christian School in 2025 while also adding 29 catches for 435 yards and five scores.

As for Clemson's 2026 backfield, upcoming sophomore Gideon Davidson seems likely to take Randall's place as the starting halfback. Davidson carried the ball 60 times for 260 yards during his freshman campaign this year.

Davidson will, however, face stiff competition from transfer addition Chris Johnson Jr., who registered 479 yards and four touchdowns on 7.1 yards per carry at SMU this past season.

The Tigers have not yet secured a single running back recruit in their 2026 recruiting class, so we will see if that changes in the coming months.
