The Biletnikoff Award finalist's injury woes deepen as his sideline appearance in protective gear signals another setback for a struggling Buffaloes offense desperate for a spark.

The Colorado Buffaloes are just past the midway point of the season and are still without one of their top transfers. When Deion Sanders took the team down to Colorado Springs for a change of scenery during Fall Camp, Danny Scudero was out with a leg injury.

This news first popped up with the Buffs wide receiver being on crutches in an Instagram post by Colorado WR coach Rashad Davis during the offseason. Since then, Scudero had five catches for 24 yards in two games.

“Danny’s progressing, we’re hoping he’s going to return sooner rather than later," Sanders said before the season. He added Scudero should be ready for the Georgia Tech opener on Sept. 3 in Atlanta. He was out on the field, but wasn't productive.

Scudero was at Big 12 Football Media Days this year and was projected to play a big role in CU's offense. The nation's receiving yards leader and Biletnikoff Award finalist from last year transferred to Colorado from San Jose State in the offseason. Scudero had 88 receptions for 1,297 yards and ten touchdowns in 2025. This year has been a much different story that continues to seem worse.

Scudero came out of the tunnel onto Folsom Field on crutches and in a walking boot again. Which begs the question about the injury lingering or something new while trying to rush back? Every week there's reason to believe the Buffs will have the playmaker back. But that hasn't happened going into Week 8 of the College Football season.

Colorado's offense was expected to be conducted by quarterback Julian Lewis. The former five-star talent was looking to build momentum from last season. After throwing for over 10,000 yards in three seasons at Carrollton (Georgia), 'JuJu' has all the intangibles to be successful in Boulder. But he was benched in favor of Isaac Wilson, who tries to stay involved in the weekly plans.

Needless to say, nothing has really gone to plan with Colorado's offense. Scudero was trying to prove himself at Colorado. This was meant to be his first Power Four experience after a year each at San Jose State and Sacramento State. He's a pure competitor and very talented with a good mindset and work ethic. The Buffs are hurt without him being available in the lineup.

Sanders and his staff will be working to improve from a 2-4 start in the season. Scuedro is one of 44 newcomers who will try to develop chemistry. The Buffs haven't won a bowl game in over two decades. That's one of the biggest goals for Colorado in year three in the Big 12.

Whether Scudero will come back for the rest of the season is unknown at this point. Colorado prepares to face Oklahoma State this week.
