Coach Prime brought his signature style to Cleveland, observing from the sidelines as Shedeur takes first-team reps in a high-stakes competition against veteran Deshaun Watson for the starting job.

Deion Sanders took time out of his busy schedule to be in Cleveland this week.

The Colorado Buffaloes coach was at the Browns' facility on Thursday to watch his son, Shedeur Sanders, compete for the starting quarterback position in training camp. The second-year passer goes up against Deshaun Watson this summer in one of the most contested QB battles in the NFL.

Sanders was out on the practice field, taking more of a fatherly approach and not one of a normal bystander. This is the first time he has made a trip to Cleveland prior to any season during Shedeur's career. He dropped in for an in-season visit last year prior to Kevin Stefanski being fired by the Browns. Deion also attended two games in December following Colorado's 3-9 season, which was the worst of his coaching career.

Shedeur Sanders rejected a possible training camp visit by his father during his rookie season due to lack of activity as a fourth-string player. As we all know now, Deion Sanders was in the midst of a cancer battle in 2025 right after Shedeur was drafted in the fifth-round by the Browns.

This looked more like a CU practice from the way Sanders was dressed. He had on his signature cowboy hat, CU 'Ain't Hard to Find' shirt with Prime sweats, and one-of-a-kind all-gold Nike Diamond Turf shoes. Deion Sanders Jr. was on hand as well to gather video clips for Well Off Media.

What's interesting about the timing of Sanders' visit is Shedeur taking first-team reps. He went 6-of-19 yesterday with the reserves, which was the first official day of training camp. Watson completed 12-of-22 passes with two interceptions on back-to-back snaps against the top defense. Sanders stayed after practice on Wednesday to work on drills with Browns sixth-round rookie QB Taylen Green.

Shedeur Sanders is locked in with the Browns after a busy offseason. He has spent time on vacation down at his father's compound in Texas, along with making two trips back to Colorado to walk in a graduation ceremony and talk to the QB room during film study. He has clearly taken a step forward in more of a mentor capacity for Julian Lewis and the rest of the Buffs. The same role he promised to fulfill after the former five-star passer committed to Colorado out of high school.

Deion Sanders is in the midst of his final week before the start of the 2026 college football season. Colorado's fall camp will take on a different approach this year by opening 100 miles south in Colorado Springs.
