Duke Needed a Good Response After UNC Loss and They Got It.

Duke was without their center, Pat Ngongba, but despite that, the Devils pulled out a nice 70-54 win on the road at Pitt.

Jon Scheyer spoke postgame about Ngongba's injury and said it came in the UNC game when he fell on his wrist. The Devils ended up sliding in year two guy, Maliq Brown, to start at center.

Duke has been no stranger to messing around with different rotations this year, but this was the first time they had a little bit of a smaller lineup. There's no question that Duke is a different team without Pat Ngongba.

Maliq Brown, might be the best defender on this team, but offensively he didn't give what you often get from Ngongba only having 2 points.

Pitt did fight and claw in the first half. They shot and hit a lot of threes which is what was keeping them in it, but in the second half is when Duke did their thing.

Maliq Brown did find himself in foul trouble in the second half. With that happening and Pat Ngongba being out, Cam Boozer had to step up and guard Pitt's five spot which Jon Scheyer spoke flowingly about after the game.

"His consistency and dependability is incredible and I think that's important that that's acknowledged." Scheyer said.

Scheyer also went on to talk about how impressive Boozer's ability to deal with so many types of ways teams have tried to double team him, this year, has been.

Offensively, Isaiah Evans really responded after a tough night against UNC. One of the things that has been a story this year with Duke has been him trying to find his consistency.

Against the Panthers, he led Duke in scoring with 21 points and absolutely lit it up from three going 5 of 6.

Caleb Foster also showed the "closer" side of himself for the first time since the Louisville game a few weeks ago.

This was a good win for Duke and response to Saturday's loss to UNC, but it's also expected. Pitt is not having a good season.

The next one for Duke will not be as easy for Duke as they welcome in no. 20 Clemson to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
