Despite their record and ranking, for a while this Duke team was struggling to definitively put teams away.

Duke would struggle and even most of the first halves of games, but then pull away in the second. They weren't dominating opponents like a now no. 4 team in the country should. That's changing right before our eyes.

The last three games that have included Stanford, Wake Forest, and now Louisville have been no doubters. In fact, after last night's 83-52 crushing of the Cardinals, Duke has now won two of the last three games by at least 30. The other was the 80-50 win at Stanford, last week.

Duke is now 2-0 against the Cardinals. The only difference is last night Louisville had their best player Mikel Brown Jr. back in the lineup.

Duke lead Louisville 38-28 at halftime, outscoring the Cardinals 14-3 after they took their first lead, and the last 9 points of the half.

Louisville leads the country in 3-point attempts and field goal attempts. Last night, they finished 11-34 from three and 8-23 from the field. Duke's defense had them locked up.

Duke is now playing with a real consistency and intensity on both ends of the floor. It has been so impressive to watch. They are a much more physical team rather than finesse.

I believe a lot of that is due to Jon Scheyer's coaching and leadership. Each year he's been Duke's head coach, they've come into the year with undoubted talent, but they gradually get better and better throughout the year until they peak right ahead of March.

Scheyer knows each of these teams he brings in, even the Cooper Flagg team last year, while talented, has so much more that needs to be extracted and coached out of them.

The other piece of Duke's growing dominance has been the answering of the question, who is Duke's third scoring option? The answer has shown to be Pat Ngongba. In twenty games he has scored double digits in all but five of them. Over the last five he's given, 15, 13, 13, 8, and 17 point outings.

That scoring trio of Cam Boozer, Isaiah Evans, and Pat Ngongba will propel the Devils through March.

The Blue Devils head to Blacksburg to take on the Hokies on Saturday.
