A college basketball analyst believes a team should move up to land this Duke star in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The basketball season is now in the NBA Finals as the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks are the two teams left standing. For everyone else, it's officially the offseason and the next steps are the NBA Draft and free agency periods.
As the countdown to the draft continues on, Duke star Cameron Boozer has been a hot topic among prospects. Boozer is expected to go in the top four, with the most likely destination being the Memphis Grizzlies at No. 3 overall.
However, reports outstate that some teams have him as the top prospect overall on their big board. So could he go No. 2?
One basketball analyst believes he would be the perfect fit for the Oklahoma City Thunder and believe they could part ways with a core piece to go get him.
Would OKC part ways with Chet Holmgren to get Cam Boozer?
On the latest episode of "The Kevin O'Connor Show", guest Tom Haberstroh and Kevin O'Connor discuss the Thunder's situation and believe Chet Holmgren is a candidate to be moved in a deal to get Boozer — if the rumors are true.
"If there's an validity to the truth of the rumors of Oklahoma City trying to trade up in the draft. It's been reported by multiple people now about the Thunder having interest to go get Cam Boozer, or go get somebody," O'Connor said. "Chet Holmgren would be one hell of a piece to dangle."
Haberstroh agreed with O'Connor when they did the exercise of which teams could make that move.
"I would trade Chet Holmgren to move up to get Cam Boozer," Haberstroh said. "I think he's a better player, better prospect. He's stronger, better playmaker, he's not the rim protector that Chet Holmgren is but in terms of shooting, playmaking, strength, size, that is the prototype you want on your team going against [Victor] Wembanyama."
As you see in Haberstroh's quote, the idea is that the Thunder need to upgrade to get better when going up against Victor Wembanyama. We saw exactly what Wemby can do in a series like the Western Conference Finals.
Boozer could be that ideal fit despite not being as good of a rim protector as Holmgren is. Things could get interesting here in the coming weeks and Boozer's name will be involved in a lot of rumors potentially.
