A look at how some former Duke Blue Devils basketball players are doing in the NBA after the first week of the season.
The first week of the 2026-27 NBA season is in the books, with teams completing a few games now. For the Duke Blue Devils, they will be well represented once again, with former players in the league.
And already they are making a quick impact to start the 2026-27 season.
With the first week gone, it's a good time to look at how some former Blue Devils did in their first few games of the season. Let's start with a rookie who is playing very well.
Cameron Boozer
Through the first four games of the season, the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft has the Memphis Grizzlies at 4-0. Cameron Boozer has been very impressive to start the season, averaging 14.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
While he's only shooting 27 percent from the field, he's been good when on the court and is currently leading the NBA's rookie ladder. Boozer is a player the Grizzlies are centering their rebuild on and the early returns have been positive.
Jayson Tatum
The Boston Celtics forward is having a monster start to the season. He's averaging 28 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 8 assists while shooting 43 percent from the floor. Tatum dropped 40 points in a win over the Brooklyn Nets and already has a 36-point game as well.
This season feels like a revenge tour campaign for Tatum and early on, he's in talks for the MVP race.
Cooper Flagg
A year after winning the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, Cooper Flagg is off to a good start for the Dallas Mavericks. He was on his way to a triple-double against the Indiana Pacers before taking a hard foul and having to leave the game.
Flagg missed just one game with the injury and is back in the Mavericks lineup. The forward is averaging 25 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game so far this season.
Khaman Maluach
With former Blue Devils center Mark Williams sidelined, Khaman Maluach is getting some early run in Phoenix with the Suns. Now, Phoenix has only played three games early this season but Maluach has appeared in all three games and is averaging 23 minutes per game.
He's averaging 7.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53.3 percent from the field. There's hope that he can be the center of the future for a Suns team that is still trying to figure it all out.
