Duke head coach Jon Scheyer told reporters he wasn't satisfied with a share of the regular season ACC championship after his squad beat No. 11 Virginia 77-51 on Saturday.
The Blue Devils entered Monday's contest against NC State with an opportunity to win the conference outright.
Duke didn't seem bothered by the Wolfpack's home crowd of 19,367 fans at Lenovo Center, racing off to a 47-30 lead at halftime before earning a 93-64 win over its rival.
Star freshman Cameron Boozer led Duke with 26 points, nine rebounds and four assists on 26 minutes.
Duke improved to 28-2 overall and 16-1 in ACC play with the win.
During his postgame news conference, Scheyer praised his team for winning the regular season ACC championship.
"I'm really proud of this team to win the ACC outright, 28 wins this point of the year and just their professionalism, their approach," Scheyer said, via USA Today. "They've been an absolute joy to coach.
"We talked about after Saturday, it's great to get a share. That means a lot, but let's get this thing outright."
The Blue Devils have one more game remaining in the regular season. They will host rival No. 17 North Carolina on Saturday.
Scheyer said he was proud of how his team has come together this season.
"And I'm proud to see the individual growth of everybody on the team, but also just how they've come together," Scheyer said. "And I think we're really connected and what they're doing is incredible.
"Proud of both these guys, proud of everybody in that locker room, our staff, our fans, everybody that's been on this journey with us. Obviously we got a long way to go here, but really proud of this team."
Duke has played some of its best basketball in the last couple of weeks. After taking down then-No. 1 Michigan on Feb. 21, Duke has been blowing out teams by over 20-plus points per game.
The Blue Devils are setting themselves up for an opportunity to earn the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. They easily look like the best team in the country before the ACC Tournament.
