Duke Blue Devils quarterback Darian Mensah has landed himself a rather intriguing NFL Draft outlook.

The Duke Blue Devils are going to the College Football Playoff after upsetting Virginia in the ACC Championship Game, and now, quarterback Darian Mensah will get the opportunity to perform on a national stage as a result.

Mensah has been one of the country's best-kept secrets in 2025. He led the ACC in both passing yards (3,646) and passing touchdowns (30) while tossing just five interceptions. He also completed 67.9 percent of his passes and averaged an incredible 280.5 passing yards per game.

Yes, the redshirt sophomore did fade down the stretch of the season, failing to throw for 300 yards once in his last five games after doing it five times over his first eight contests, but he has clearly made an impression on analysts preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft.

In fact, Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network thinks that Mensah could actually be one of the top signal-callers off the board this coming April ... but only if he actually declares.

"Mensah still has time to finish the season strong, but 2027 might present a better opportunity to maximize his stock," Cummings wrote. "If he declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, he’d assuredly be in the mix to be the class’ QB4 behind Dante Moore, Fernando Mendoza, and Ty Simpson at just 21 years old, but another year of refinement under center could help Mensah solidify his potential Round 1 standing in 2027."

The fact that Cummings feels that Mensah could be the fourth quarterback selected if he enters the draft is monumental considering the amount of depth most felt the position had heading into the campaign.

More than likely, though, Mensah will return to Duke for another year of seasoning, as it seemed pretty clear that the burden of expectations was getting to him during the second half of 2025.

Mensah was decent in the ACC Championship Game, going 19-for-25 with 196 yards, a couple of touchdowns and a pick, but he definitely had much stronger outings earlier in the season.

Not being a true dual threat will also hurt Mensah's NFL stock, but he is such a good pocket passer that teams may be willing to take a chance on him regardless.

Assuming he spends another year with the Blue Devils, expect Mensah to be one of the most prominent sleeper quarterbacks going into 2026.
