Duke football quarterback Walker Eget is being disrespected once again in rankings by ESPN.

The Duke Football team enters the bye week with a 4-0 record after taking care of business against William & Mary last weekend. Duke wrapped up their non-conference schedule which included wins over Illinois, Tulane and William & Mary.

They also have an Atlantic Coast Conference win as they beat Stanford in Week 3 at home.

While Duke has been led by Nate Sheppard on offense and a very good defense, quarterback Walker Eget has quietly had a good few games. He struggled in the season opener against Tulane but has bounced back to play well and help lead the Blue Devils to that 4-0 record.

Through four games, Eget has thrown for 721 yards, 6 touchdowns and just 1 interception while completing 62.4 percent of his attempts. He's found a groove recently, and if he continues to get better, it means great things for the Blue Devils' offense.

But not everyone is buying in on Eget, yet.

ESPN has ranked all 68 Power Four quarterbacks through the first four weeks and for Eget he's ranked low at No. 58. The reasoning is interesting.

Here is what Bill Connelly wrote on Eget and his ranking. He credits Duke's dominant defense as well as running back Nate Sheppard who is putting up huge numbers. He calls Eget's role "dont screw up" for the offense. He hasn't yet as he only has one turnover and one sack.

Connelly also mentions that Duke is unbeaten because of that but the upside is very questionable at the moment. He also cites Eget's best game being against Illinois and calls the Fighting Illini defense as poor.

We can see where Connelly is coming from. But No. 58? That's a little perplexing. Eget has been good no matter the opponent and has done his job. He's certainly better than his ranking right now and deserves to be ranked higher.

Eget will get his chance to impress as Duke's schedule gets tougher moving forward with the meat of the ACC schedule coming up. He will also face a good Miami defense later in the season, allowing him to make a statement if he plays good.

For a team that lost Darian Mensah last season, Duke has received some really good play at the quarterback position. But if they really want to be contenders moving forward, they may need him to play at a higher level.
