The Duke Blue Devils have picked up another weapon in the transfer portal.

The Duke Blue Devils boasted an explosive offense this season, riding it to an ACC championship and a Sun Bowl victory over Arizona State.

Now, Duke is doubling down on that side of the ball in the transfer portal.

Not only did the Blue Devils add former Pennsylvania wide receiver Jared Richardson, who racked up over 1,000 yards for the Quakers in 2025, but they have also bagged former Rutgers running back CJ Campbell Jr., via John Watson of 247 Sports.

Campbell will now be joining his fourth team on the collegiate level.

The Kaplan, La. native began his career at Florida State in 2022, spending two seasons with the Seminoles without receiving a whole lot of playing time.

He then transferred to Florida Atlantic, where he racked up 844 yards and 11 touchdowns on 5.1 yards per carry while also hauling in 40 receptions for 466 yards and three scores.

After his impressive showing with the Owls, Campbell transferred once again, this time heading to Rutgers, but his 2025 campaign was incredibly disappointing. The 5-foot-10 playmaker carried the ball just 22 time for 119 yards, so he decided to re-enter the portal.

Duke may represent the perfect landing spot for Campbell.

While the Blue Devils have Nate Sheppard as their No. 1 running back, they lost Anderson Castle and Jaquez Moore due to eligibility expiration this offseason. Campbell could easily step in as the No. 2 behind Sheppard and receive considerable playing time.

Case in point, Castle was the backup halfback in 2025 and punched in 12 rushing touchdowns at Duke, so Campbell should definitely get some opportunities.

The Blue Devils have become quite a force in the transfer portal thanks to Manny Diaz, who landed quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate last year.

Duke has already made a bunch of notable additions this winter, but it still needs to focus a bit more on the defensive side of the ball, where it ranked toward the bottom of the ACC in 2025.

The good news is that the Blue Devils have plenty of time to bring in some more pieces.

We'll see if Duke further establishes itself as a legitimate threat on the national stage next fall.
