Duke Blue Devils star Cameron Boozer has been compared to an interesting NBA player before the draft.
The Duke Blue Devils will once again have a handful of players heading to the NBA this offseason. Most notably, Cameron Boozer is expected to be a top-four pick.
Boozer more than lived up to the hype during his freshman season with Duke. He produced at an insanely high level throughout his lone season with the Blue Devils.
Throughout the course of the 2025-26 college basketball season, Boozer played in 38 games. He averaged 22.5 points per game to go along with 10.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.4 steals. Boozer shot 55.6 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from the three-point line.
Ahead of the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft, Boozer has received an interesting comparison to a current professional player.
Mick Baltes of Duke Wire has suggested that longtime NBA center Al Horford, who played this season with the Golden State Warriors, might be the best comparison for the Duke standout.
"Like Boozer, Horford had a track record of winning in college, helping Florida to two NCAA titles. When in the NBA, Horford was a solid rebounder, secondary scorer and passer for his position. Additionally, Horford's ability to adapt to a fast-paced game helped transform his career," Baltes wrote.
"Throughout his first eight seasons, Horford never averaged more than 0.5 3-point attempts per game. In the 11 years since, Horford has averaged at least three 3-point attempts per game, shooting an impressive 37.7% from beyond the arc. Lastly, and even more ironic, Horford was selected No. 3 overall by the Atlanta Hawks, the same pick that Boozer is expected to fall to in many mock drafts."
Horford has never been considered a "superstar" in the NBA. However, he has always been one of the most consistent and underrated stars in the league.
There is no question that Boozer is targeting an even better career than Horford has had at the NBA level. But, even if he ends up simply mirroring Horford's career, it would be a success.
Only time will tell, but the hype around Boozer continues to grow before the upcoming NBA Draft on June 23.
