Could Duke star Cameron Boozer land with the Sacramento Kings?
In his latest mock draft, Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports has Duke star Cameron Boozer going to the Sacramento Kings at number three.
Boozer will be one of the top picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Sacramento was a walking disaster this season, winning only 22 games. They need a future star like Boozer to help the franchise in the post-De'Aaron Fox era.
"The Kings need a leader," O'Connor wrote. "Boozer fits the bill. He’s a do-it-all offensive talent who can post up, run pick-and-rolls, set screens, spot up and crash the boards. He doesn’t need to rely on bully ball to make an impact as a scorer or passer. That said, the acquisition would almost certainly signal the end of the Domantas Sabonis given their overlapping strengths and weaknesses.
"Defensively, some of the questions about Boozer popped up in Duke’s Elite Eight loss to UConn: He wasn’t big enough to defend Tarris Reed, and he got smoked by Alex Karaban on a key 3-pointer on the perimeter. But he plays hard and has improved at every weakness in his game so far. That approach is exactly the type of player Sacramento needs to bring into its organization."
Boozer was the top player in college basketball this season, which is why he won the Player of the Year Award. The forward averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 78.9% from the free-throw line.
While Boozer is humble, he believes he should be the first pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The youngster told Mark Medina of EssentiallySports the following: "There are a lot of great candidates, for sure. Some of them are here. But what I think separates me is my competitiveness and my winning. It’s my willingness to do whatever it takes to win."
Wherever Boozer lands, he will likely thrive. After all, he's the son of two-time NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer.
Former Duke star Cooper Flagg was the first pick in the 2025 draft by the Dallas Mavericks. Boozer could be the first pick in this year's draft. We have to wait until the 2026 draft lottery to see who has the first pick.
