Former Duke star Cooper Flagg has received a negative injury update.
The Dallas Mavericks announced on Thursday that Flagg is still out because of his left midfoot sprain.
Flagg got hurt on February 10 against the Phoenix Suns.
Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in his lone season at Duke. The Maine native's best game in college was against Notre Dame on January 11, 2025. He had 42 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
The Mavericks selected Flagg with the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Flagg is the favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award this season. He's averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
Duke fans probably watch a lot of Mavericks games because Dallas has Flagg, Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively II, three former Blue Devils.
Flagg is shooting 48.2% from the field, 30.2% from beyond the arc and 80.4% from the free-throw line for the Mavericks, who will probably miss the NBA playoffs this season.
The 19-year-old Flagg was at Duke over the All-Star break. He still loves coming back to school to watch the new guys hoop. Current Blue Devil Cameron Boozer could be the first pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He's averaging 22.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
In other Flagg news, the jersey he wore for his NBA debut against the San Antonio Spurs was sold privately by Sotheby's for $1 million, according to Dan Hajducky of ESPN.
Flagg had 10 points and 10 rebounds in his NBA debut against the Spurs. The Duke product shot 4-of-13 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line in the Mavericks' 125-92 loss at home.
"The $1 million result for Cooper Flagg's rookie debut jersey is a powerful testament to the significance collectors place on true 'first moments' in sport," Brahm Wachter, Sotheby's head of modern collectibles, said in a statement. "This jersey captures the very beginning of a special career, one carrying huge expectations and excitement."
