The legend of former Duke star Jayson Tatum continues.
Another day, another NBA record for former Duke star Jayson Tatum.
On Sunday, Tatum tied Russell Westbrook in all-time playoff scoring.
Tatum will pass Westbrook in his next playoff game.
A St. Louis native, Tatum was the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The Boston Celtics forward spent just one season at Duke, averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Duke went 28-9 with Tatum leading the way in 2016-17. They were upset, though, by South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Tatum's highest-scoring game with Duke was 28 points against Virginia on February 15, 2017.
Tatum has established himself as one of the best Duke players to ever play in the NBA. He's made six All-Star teams and five All-NBA teams with the Celtics. The talented swingman has career averages of 23.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game with Boston.
Tatum helped the Celtics win the 2024 NBA championship against the Dallas Mavericks in five games. He tragically tore his Achilles tendon in Game 4 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
However, Tatum returned from his injury in less than one year.
"I just wanted to be out there with my teammates," Tatum said on Sunday, reflecting on his Achilles rehab. "I'm beyond thankful and grateful that I get that opportunity every game."
With Tatum back in the fold, the Celtics could win it all again. Duke fans are certainly rooting for Tatum to win another NBA championship.
