Scheyer deserves a ton of credit for his recent get.

Duke continues to be the best in the country at getting the players it wants, and it did so again earlier in the week by landing Luke Paul, a member of the NBL's Next Star program.

Paul, who is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2028 NBA Draft, will come to Duke with high expectations.

He'll compete with the team during the 2027-28 season. There's a hope and expectation that Paul is going to come in and have a major impact on this program, and there's also a lot of reasons as to why he decided to come to Duke.

Already a professional overseas, it would have been easy for him to stay and continue to develop his game.

However, head coach Jon Scheyer has made it a necessity to go out and land players who can come in and make an impact from overseas right away.

Recruits certainly value what his staff can do in terms of development, which is likely part of the reason why Duke continues to get the players it does. Speaking to reporters about why he decided to join the Blue Devils, Paul had a lot to say.

"I want to get to the NBA and be a lottery pick, and I trust in their player development to get me there," Paul said. "In saying that, winning a national championship at Duke is the ultimate goal for me."

"The family aspect of the program appealed to me," he said, per ESPN. "I jumped on the call with Coach Scheyer and the rest of the coaching staff, and really got the feeling that it's going to be home for me. I put trust in them, and they put trust in me, that we'd be able to do something special. I went away from that call with a lot of confidence that it was right for me."

It's awesome to hear that Luke wants to develop at a high level but is also hoping to win a national title.

Duke has continued to be an NBA factory throughout a lot of its existence, and that isn't going to change anytime soon. Recruits overseas understand that players Duke has put in the league are some of the best in the NBA, and they all want to join that. Scheyer also deserves a lot of credit for the recruiting success that he's been able to find.
