The Duke Blue Devils are still a month away from starting the regular season in November, but the exhibition schedule will begin this week. It will be the first look at this Blue Devils' team for Jon Scheyer here in the 2026-27 season and already the excitement is high.
As we prepare for the college basketball season, the NBA is also getting underway and Duke has some stars getting ready for the 2026-27 season. Duke is well represented in the NBA, having plenty of star power that we will track as the year goes on.
Being early October, this is a great opportunity to check in on what's going on with some former Blue Devils in the NBA.
Cooper Flagg's New Balance logo unveiled
Cooper Flagg is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he won the NBA's Rookie of the Year award after being taken No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks. Flagg put together a big season in his first year and is now looking to take a step forward.
On Thursday, Flagg revealed something off the court that is pretty huge for his game off the court. New Balance officially revealed the logo for Flagg's signature shoe line featuring a "CF" and is inspired by his home state, Maine, featuring pine tree cutouts on the "C".
You can see that here.
Cam Boozer's hot preseason start
With the preseason underway, Cam Boozer is off to a hot start. He's scored double-digit points in both games so far. After scoring 11 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing 4 assists in his debut, he followed it up with a 16-point, 6-rebound, and 2-assist game against the Orlando Magic.
Next up for Boozer is a matchup with the No. 4 overall pick, Caleb Wilson and the Chicago Bulls this week. The two met in the NBA Summer League opener in Las Vegas.
Kyrie Irving returns to the court
It's been a tough year or so for former Duke point guard Kyrie Irving. After missing last season to recover from a torn ACL and then a previously undisclosed calf strain, he's set to return to the court here in the preseason.
Dallas is in China for a few exhibition games and Dusty May told reporters that Irving will play in one of the two scheduled games. However, he doesn't know if that will be on Friday or Sunday.
May told reporters it will depend on how Irving's body feels along with the jet lag the team could have from traveling.
