Most Duke fans are worried about the basketball team at the moment, but the Duke football program is looking to continue improving after winning the ACC title game a year ago.

Duke unfortunately didn't get the benefit of the doubt to make the College Football Playoff, but we have to give the program some credit for taking a great step in the right direction.

Manny Diaz was recently rewarded with a contract extension and also spoke to the media about one of his most important groups for this upcoming year. That was none other than the wide receiver corps, and he gave a preview of what fans should expect.

"A major storyline was the plays that our young wide receivers made," Diaz said while speaking to the media, per Anna Snyder. "Which was consistent with what we had seen throughout the spring with (Jaivon) Solomon, (Jamien) Little, (Brody) Keefe had a really nice catch, the touchdown there. And that's going to be a big part of our offense."

North Carolina will have to decide what it wants to do at quarterback, as some roles are still to be figured out. One of them is with San Jose State transfer Walker Eget, who continues recovering from ACL surgery.

"(Walker) was able to move around," Diaz said. "He was able to make some throws. He's not cleared for anything full speed. He's not even cleared to really rip the ball the way that he would. But again, wanted to get him out here on the grass at Wallace Wade and have him make some throws and make some plays, which I thought was really encouraging."

It's still relatively early in the spring to be too worried about how the program looks, but all signs coming out of Durham have been rather encouraging for this program.
