A relentless Missouri onslaught and a vanished ground game may have shattered the Florida Gators' playoff dreams.

The Florida Gators are in for a rude awakening when the AP Top 25 poll drops on Sunday, Oct. 4.

This was a team that had exceeded all expectations and seemed to be on their way to a potential College Football Playoff berth.

With No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia still on the schedule, one can only imagine how difficult that road is going to be now that they were just embarrassed at Missouri.

Many questioned why the Tigers were still ranked after their loss to No. 24 Mississippi State the week prior, but Mizzou put together a statement win against the previously 4-0 Gators, 45-17.

Florida falls to 2-1 in SEC play, and it's going to be a long week ahead for Jon Sumrall and Co. as there wasn't much positive to take out of this one.

Everything went downhill after the opening drive

The Gators put together a lengthy 15-play, 73-yard drive that lasted nearly seven minutes, but all they were able to get out of it was a 20-yard field goal.

Would this game have ended differently if they scored a touchdown on the first drive of the game? Probably not, but who's to say.

Even when Florida was able to make this a 10-10 game, they had no idea just how relentless this Mizzou team was going to be.

The No. 25-ranked team led by 10 points at halftime, but the Gators didn't stand a chance in the second half.

Tigers scored 35 unanswered points

Remember, this was a 10-10 game with 4:26 remaining in the second quarter. Suddenly, it was 45-10 just a minute and a half into the fourth quarter.

Aaron Philo didn't necessarily have a poor game, but he averaged just 5.8 yards per attempt, and that simply wasn't going to cut it.

He finished 21/34 for 197 yards with a touchdown, and it's worth noting the Gators didn't throw a single interception.

What happened to Jadan Baugh?

Where did everything go wrong? Florida's run game disappeared entirely. Jadan Baugh was a Heisman candidate, but suddenly he may be out of the equation entirely.

Missouri held him to 13 yards on just 12 carries. Baugh, who had 136+ rushing yards in each of the last four games, was held to 1.1 yards per attempt.

The craziest part? His longest carry of the game was 12 yards. So, if you take that run out of the equation, that means that Baugh had 11 carries for one yard.
