Florida Alum J.Michael Sturdivant Makes Packers 53-Man Roster

Former Florida Gators wide receiver J.Michael Sturdivant has earned a spot on the Green Bay Packers' 53-man roster.

Sturdivant had an impressive training camp and preseason, which led to him making the roster. The 23-year-old finished the preseason with seven receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.

He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Packers and will look to be a contributing weapon for their offense. Green Bay will likely be a pass-heavy offense in 2026, which works in Sturdivant's favor.

"I'm writing this with tears of joy streaming down my face and can't believe I can tell this little kid that his dreams were never out of reach," Sturdivant shared in a social media post after making the Packers' roster.

In the 2025 season with the Gators, Sturdivant was a solid weapon, hauling in 27 receptions for 406 yards and three touchdowns. Florida will miss his presence on their offense in the 206 season.

The Gators made a lot of changes to their program this offseason, as Billy Napier was fired as the head coach and Jon Sumrall was brought in to replace him. Sumrall has had success at his previous stops, giving hope that Florida could bounce back after going 4-8 in 2025.

The Gators have added a ton of talent via the transfer portal to improve the roster, but it will be a challenge to compete with top teams in the SEC like Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, and more.

With Sturdivant starting his NFL career, Florida will lean on Dallas Wilson, Eric Singleton Jr., and Vernell Brown III as their starting receivers. Wilson is poised for a bigger role, but he showed flashes in four games for the Gators in 2025, finishing with 12 receptions for 174 yards and three touchdowns.

Singleton Jr. is a transfer portal addition who has 162 receptions for 2,002 yards and 12 touchdowns over his first three seasons. Brown III should be the other contributing receiver and is coming off a productive freshman campaign, hauling in 40 receptions for 512 yards.

The Gators have an impressive array of weapons, which should be beneficial for quarterback Aaron Philo, who will be a full-time starter for the first time.

While Florida looks to have a bounce-back year under Sumrall, Sturdivant will be establishing himself as a weapon for Green Bay's offense.
