Florida Gators alum Trey Smack had a great rookie preseason with the Green Bay Packers.
The Green Bay Packers selected Florida Gators alum Trey Smack in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Smack has thrived in the preseason, making all nine of his field goal attempts and seven of his extra point attempts.
The 23-year-old had a great year with the Gators and is now making his mark in the NFL. In the 2023 season, Smack made 17 of 21 field goal attempts and all 29 of his extra point attempts.
He was even more impressive in 2024, making 18 of 21 field goal attempts and all 44 of his extra point attempts. Smack played at a high level once again in the 2025 season, as he made 18 of 22 field goal attempts and 27 of 28 extra point attempts.
Smack's consistency at Florida is translating on the field, and he will be the starting kicker for the Packers in the upcoming season.
The Gators will miss Smack's presence on their roster as he was one of the few bright spots in the disappointing 2025 season. Florida fired head coach Billy Napier and hired Jon Sumrall to replace him to restore the Gators to being one of the top programs in college football.

Philo hasn't had a ton of experience on the field, as he's appeared in eight career games at Georgia Tech, completing 59 of 102 passes (57.8 percent) for 938 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He added 95 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
While Philo will be a key piece in the offense's success, the Gators will also need a reliable kicker to replace Smack and put up consistent points.
Special teams can be a major differentiator if they play at an elite level. Florida will rely on Patrick Durkin, who transferred from Tulane after making 27 of 32 field goal attempts and 57 of 58 extra point attempts over two seasons.
If Durkin continues to play well, he will be a great replacement for Smack, who will look to continue his success in the NFL.
