Former Florida Gators kicker Trey Smack had an impressive second game in the NFL.
Former Florida Gators starting kicker Trey Smack had a great second game of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, hitting both extra-point attempts and both field-goal attempts, including the game-winning 26-yard field goal in overtime.
Smack has played well in the first two weeks of his career, making three of four extra point attempts and all five field goal attempts, including a 59-yarder in Week 1.
It makes sense that Smack was the only kicker selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, as he's been poised for a rookie.
He was a three-year starter for the Gators and was a reliable kicker for the team. In the 2023 season, Smack made all 29 of his extra-point attempts and 17 of 21 field-goal attempts.
He played at an even higher level in 2024, making all 44 of his extra-point attempts and 18 of 21 field-goal attempts. Smack had another quality season in 2025, making 27 of 28 extra-point attempts and 18 of 22 field-goal attempts.

The Gators are 3-0 to start the 2026 season and have been very competitive, rising to 21st in the country.
To replace Smack, Florida brought in Patrick Durkin through the transfer portal. Durkin comes over from Tulane, where he was a quality kicker. In the 2024 season, he made all 16 of his extra-point attempts and hit two of four field-goal attempts.
Durkin played well in the 2025 season, making 41 of 42 extra-point attempts and 25 of 28 field-goal attempts. He hasn't missed a kick thus far with the Gators, making all 20 of his extra points and all five of his field goals.
Having a reliable kicker is pivotal to winning tight games, and Sumrall and Florida have that in Durkin.
The Gators will look to continue their strong start to the 2026 season against the Ole Miss Rebels in Week 4, while Smack enters the third week of his NFL career and will try to build on his Week 2 game-winner.
