An SEC game on the road is no easy task.
The University of Florida will have its biggest game of the season on Saturday, as it opens SEC play against a strong Auburn team.
Auburn, which looks above average, is a team Florida should take care of business against. At the end of the day, if this Florida team is going to be different from the ones that we've seen in years past, there's really no excuse not to beat a team like Auburn.
Auburn is, of course, a good team, but relative to the other programs in the SEC that Florida will have to play over the next couple of weeks, one can make an argument that this might be its easiest game over the next month or so.
As Florida prepared for this game, playing on the road was at the top of its focus list. Florida understood that if it was going to have a chance to win, how it played on the road would be very important.
While Florida is going into a hostile environment, it sounds like the coaching staff understands that and has its guys prepared to go.
"Yeah, you know, the one thing about me and the one thing about us is each week it's the same exact preparation, right? Like we're gonna prepare the same way every week no matter who we're playing," OC Buster Faulkner told the media, per Kyle Lander.
"Obviously there's things that come with that preparation that are different than when you're at home, you know, crowd noise," he said.
"You got to practice that. So we'll prepare them, you know, all the way up until kickoff with everything we want to be able to go do throughout the game, and that's what they pay us to do."
While this isn't anything new for guys like Faulkner or Jon Sumrall, as well as some players on Florida's roster, it's also important to recognize that a lot of these guys are playing in their first SEC road game.
This is not an easy task and is not the type of environment they're used to facing in their college careers. I believe all of them will be more than fine, and I do think Florida wins this game, but it's interesting to consider nonetheless.
