Florida Gators four-star 2027 quarterback commit Davin Davidson has been compared to a former NFL signal caller.

At this point in time, the Florida Gators have a very intriguing quarterback committed to play football for them in the 2027 recruiting class. That quarterback is none other than Davin Davidson.

Hailing from Sarasota, Florida, the 6-foot-6 and 215-pound quarterback looks like the real deal. He looks to be the kind of player who could become a starter for the Gators down the road.

Davidson has committed to Florida since April 9 of this year. Plenty of other programs tried to convince him to commit somewhere else, but the Gators prevailed.

A few of those other teams were the Miami Hurricanes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Auburn Tigers.

With that being said, fans may not be familiar with what Davidson brings to the field. He has drawn an intriguing comparison to a former NFL quarterback who played much of his professional career in the state of Florida.

According to Rivals, Davidson has some similarities to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman.

"Davin Davidson is a jumbo quarterback prospect with a big league arm," Rivals wrote. "The physical profile and playing style reminds us of Josh Freeman. Like Davidson, Freeman was a talented, developmental quarterback. The comparison is a high-end one as Freeman ended up as a first-rounder."

Rivals analyst Charles Power also offered a bit more information about what Davidson brings to the field in his most recent scouting report of the young quarterback on June 2.

"Towering quarterback prospect with a big-time arm and intriguing upside. The tallest top quarterback in the 2027 cycle. Measured in at 6-foot-6.5, 215 pounds with a 9.75-inch hand prior to his senior season. Touts outstanding arm strength with the ability to generate a ton of zip on passes to the intermediate and deep areas of the field. Can rip the football on a line from 30 yards out. Shows flashes of arm dexterity. A solid mover at his size," Power wrote.

"Completed 64.6% of his passes for 2360 yards, 23 touchdowns against 6 interceptions while helping his team to a state title. A low volume passer attempting a little over 14 passes per game and accounting for 163 total yards per game as a junior. As a result is still early in his development in comparison with his blue-chip peers. As a taller, longer quarterback will need to continue tightening up his mechanics and footwork. Will also need to improve at changing speeds, as he’s primarily a fastball thrower at this point. Should benefit greatly from increased in-game reps. Has a high upside, but may be a few years away."

No recruit is ever a sure thing. Plenty of young players fall flat when they reach the college level.

Despite that fact, there are many reasons for Gators fans to be excited about Davidson. If he can come anywhere close to the Freeman comparison, Florida has a new future starting quarterback in the fold.
